Toucher and Rich is an Award-winning morning radio show from 6 to 10 AM on The Sports Hub 98.5 in Boston, Massachusetts. The show first aired in 2006, and moved to moved to sports talk station WBZ-FM 98.5 The Sports Hub in 2009.
Toucher and Rich is extremely popular in the Boston area, and in 2016 the show won the Marconi Award, the highest award in radio for Major Market Personality of the Year.
The stars of the show are the two co -hosts, Fred “Toucher” Toettcher and Rich Shertenlieb whose dynamic has kept the show running for so long.
Recently, Toucher has been absent from the show, and has returned after a seven week absence, which has lead fans to ask where he’s been.

What happened to Fred Toucher?
On July 27th 2020 Fred Toucher uploaded a selfie with a serious announcement, telling fans that he would be taking time off of his radio show in order to deal with his addiction. He wrote:
“Here is a non sarcastic post. I can’t sleep tonight because I’m going to rehab for my alcohol addiction tomorrow. I don’t think I’ve ever been this scared in my life. I have read all of your posts and they have meant the world to me. You made me feel a lot better about my struggle. I am looking forward to get back to the radio but I need to get well. I hope I can make those of you that like the show still tune in. Once again I have been overwhelmed with your support. Thank you so much.”
Before Fred’s post, Rich Shertelieb explained Fred’s absence on July 22nd. He told fans: “Listen, with everything that’s going on, Fred’s going to take a couple of days off. And we love the guy, can’t wait until he gets back.”
Fred was off the radio for seven weeks, until September 8th, when he announced that he was back, and ready to join Toucher and Rich once again.

Fred Toucher told fans he is ready to come back to the radio show through Instagram. He uploaded a picture of him with his family, and captioned the photo:
“I’m back baby! It’s been a crazy few weeks but I survived. I want to thank all of you for the tremendous support. I have read all your messages and they helped me more than you could imagine. I will tell my story starting tomorrow at 6am on Toucher and Rich 98.5 the sports hub. I know my head got cut off in the picture but it is what it is.”
